Boating Magazine - April 2001 The Mini Tri-Lens Reflector is a more sophisicated and slightly pricier (than the Davis Echomaster) option. It uses three Luneberg-type lenses - similar to those that have been used by the military for many years - to provide a return from 330 degrees - even when heeled up to 45 degrees. With outer dimensions of 4" by 8", the two-pound Mini Tri-Lens has a threaded base for quick and easy attachment to a standard antenna mount. We mounted it on the radar arch - about 8' above sea level - and we were able to paint the test boat on radar better than without the reflector. Because its white UV ABS exterior gives it the appearance of a high-tech antenna and provides the best image we've seen, the Mini Tri-Lens is the best bet for a permantly mounted reflector.
